AT&T Says it Owns Records of Your Phone Calls and Internet Viewing

David Lazarus reports in today's Chronicle that "AT&T has issued an updated privacy policy that takes effect Friday. The new policy says that AT&T -- not customers -- owns customers' confidential info and can use it 'to protect its legitimate business interests, safeguard others, or respond to legal process.'"

If customers don't stop using AT&T's service, the company says that it can give to the government, sell, or do whatever they want with your call and Internet browsing history. They can do this, they say, because their new policy says that who we call or what we do on the Internet is their business record.

Mmmmm.... No.

It is time for AT&T to be reintroduced to the concept of a public utility. It's time for our representatives to act.
