cereal bowls for 80

Some of the 80 men who slept in at the church Monday night couldn't stay for the 6 am breakfast because they had to get to their early-starting jobs.

And, it was uncomfortable to be thanked so profusely for serving toast, cold cereal, and oatmeal for breakfast.  (Maybe if we had eggs, pancakes, or French toast I would have felt better?)

I don't understand why it's acceptable to perennially need the "Mayor's Winter Emergency Shelter".
Why people who are working to the best of their ability cannot have a place of their own.
Why a collusion of oligarchs legitimizes the payment one person at a rate hundreds of times of that of another.

redozdachs correctly chides me that "Come the revolution" I'd be on the cushy side of the barricades.

But, some days I am forcefully shown how much less I know now than I did when I was 20.

We are so sheltered from the other side of the barricade. It makes me embarrassed to enter my journal about the 'improvements' we're making to our own home while others go without.

Being mindful of what you're doing and taking care of your home are absolutely legitimate, IMHO. Something to be happy about, not embarrassed. It's an experience I want others to have, not to hide in my own life.

There is a line in my mind (which your blog entries do not cross!) between chronicling personal issues and becoming self-absorbed with trivial annoyances made into tragedies. I could link to a number of those blog entries, but I'll wait until I get appointed God first.

So, how's the house??!
