Forwarded email from a Mira Loma Park friend:

Peets Coffee in West Portal is sponsoring a Peets for PAWS Day on Monday, December 24.  In addition to giving out free house drip coffee (can't beat that!) on Monday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, they will be asking customer to make donations to support Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) and will match up to the first $1,000 raised.
For those of you that are not aware, PAWS provides a whole variety of services to people with HIV/AIDS to enable them to have pets -- those loving dogs and cats that many of us take for granted.  These dogs and cats need to be supported while they are supporting the people they are loving and providing a great deal of emotional enrichment.  These animals need things such as vet care, pet food and dog walking and your generous donation will go a long way.
If you would like information about PAWs, their website is at http://www.pawssf.org/index.shtml.  You know I love dogs and Peets -- what a wonderful combination for a Christmas Eve day event.  I hope to see you at Peets on the 24th getting my mocha and making a big donation to PAWS.
Hoping your holidays are healthy and that you are able to take care of your pets without the need for PAWS!

PAWS is indeed a wonderful group. I always target my donations at Community Thrift to PAWS.

Now, thankfully they've expanded beyond just the HIV disabled community that I (actually, my hound-dog Bharnie) am a client.

Bharnie gets some veterinary care, his shots, most medications, pedicures, all of his food from them. They have also given us, a really fabulous dogbed, a new leash and collar, Advantage, shampoo, rawhide bones and treats.

They are very friendly and overworked people. For people who are shut-ins, the even provide dogwalking and food delivery.
